Puerto Ricans Vote for U.S. Statehood

Twenty –three percent of eligible Puerto Rican voters casted their votes, out of which ninety- seven percent voted for Puerto Rico to become the 51st state of the U.S.A.

Analysts argued that the vote will go nowhere as there is little incentive for a Republican U.S. to admit a democratic leaning electorate like Puerto Rico notwithstanding its precarious financial situation.
