Blockchain may not be the great disruptor it is made out to be.

Blockchain has been riding a wave of publicity, yet this may be unsustainable or even incorrect. Steve Young, CEO of Citisoft, an investment management firm believes that the industry can never be transformed by a single technology in isolation but rather by people who have the vision to bring new business models and processes.

He cited the examples of Uber and AirBnB arguing that it was not the technology which was the disruptor but rather the new business models which were utilized.

Young argues that “Disruption will come from taking a root and branch review of the business, potentially across several processes, and designing new and better ways of working…the available technology will be an influence, but it should only be secondary.”
