CAB AGM And Conference: Embracing Change and Building Resilience in a Dynamic Environment

Castries, Saint Lucia, 23 October 2023: The Caribbean Association of Banks Inc (CAB) is pleased to announce its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference under the theme “Embracing Change and Building Resilience in a Dynamic Environment”. The Conference is slated for 24 – 28 October 2023 and will be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago.

There have been exciting inclusions to the 2023 AGM and Conference agenda which includes an SME Workshop and Marketplace under the theme “Nurturing a Big Business Mindset for Your Small Business Success”. This workshop aims to provide an opportunity for capacity building regarding business development for entrepreneurs of micro, small and medium sized enterprises (MSMEs). The CAB recognises the contribution of MSMEs to the economies of the region and is pleased to support the advancement of this sector. The workshop and marketplace is being facilitated in collaboration with Republic Bank Limited.

In addition to the SME Workshop and Marketplace, the CAB, in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program – Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI) and other international organisations will be facilitating a Sustainable Financing Information Workshop. As the region contends with the adverse and often disproportionate impacts of climate change, it is imperative that sustainability remains at the core of future development. There have been encouraging advancements within the regional banking sector related to the previous and the CAB is pleased to facilitate an opportunity for further discourse and strategic development in this regard.

The aforementioned will both be held on Tuesday 24 October 2023 which is customarily referred to as Training Day. As it concerns our traditional training offerings, the Financial and International Business Association (FIBA) – a long time supporting partner of the CAB – will be facilitating two training sessions namely “The Risk of FinTechs in the Payment Space” and “The Intersection of Sales and Compliance”. Each training session carries two (2) continuing education credits.

On the morning of Wednesday 24 October 2023, the members of the Association will convene for the AGM. Nominees from the Southern Caribbean and Eastern Caribbean and Barbados regions will be considered for election to the Board.

Following the AGM, the afternoon will feature a wine and cheese soiree sponsored by NETinfo and ANSA Bank under the theme “A Successful Digital Banking Transformation Journey.” This event will highlight the achievements of the collaboration between NETinfo and ANSA Bank in the realm of technology and digital banking transformation.

Wednesday’s activities conclude with the official opening ceremony of the CAB 2023 AGM and Conference which will be held in the evening and is sponsored by Republic Bank Limited. We look forward to the introduction of the incoming Board for the financial 2023-2024.

Thursday marks the commencement of two days of plenary discussions on the most topical areas within industry. Each session will be led by seasoned experts within their respective fields. Following the conclusion of the plenary sessions, there will be networking opportunities for all attendees in the evening of each day.

The Conference is accredited by FIBA and there are six (6) continuing education (CE) credits to be earned by participation in CAB Conference 2023.

Special recognition is to be made of the United Texas Bank (UTB) – one of CAB’s newest service members – the first US based bank to join the CAB membership. UTB has affirmed their commitment to the provision of correspondent banking services to the region and their addition to the CAB family is a testament to this resolve.

The CAB is appreciative of and encouraged by the robust support of all our sponsors.
