CARICOM Council stands with Venezuela

The outgoing Chairman of the CARICOM Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), Sir Louis Straker, has stated that CARICOM will not turn its back on troubled Venezuela.

Even while four CARICOM members are still on the fence on the issue, Louis reiterated that CARICOM is overwhelmingly in support of Venezuela.

This comes on the heels of a letter written by Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to the CARICOM. The letter argues that a “small group of powerful nations” , within the OAS, were attempting to dilute the collective voice of the CARICOM on the Venezuela Issue and urges members to stand with solidarity.
