Work Advanced To Commence Pilot Implementation Of Jamaica CBDC In August

Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) Governor, Richard Byles, says work is being finalised to commence pilot implementation of the proposed central bank digital currency (CBDC) locally, in August. A Caribbean financial technology partnership has been given global recognition. In March 2021, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) launched the world’s first retail central bank digital currency (CBDC) within a currency union. JN Bank UK to Address Financial Inclusion, De-risking

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Earl Jarrett, chief executive officer of The Jamaica National Group, said its newest subsidiary company, JN Bank in the United Kingdom (UK), will seek to address financial inclusion for several unbanked or under-banked persons in the UK, as well as pursue correspondent banking services for Caribbean banks in the future.
