Cayman Islands Develop New National Energy Policy

The Government of the Cayman Islands along with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean have drafted the Country’s new National Energy Policy (NEP) which seeks to support increased energy security while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

The NEP recommends that 70% of total energy generation in the Cayman Islands should come from renewable sources and carbon emissions reduced by more than two-thirds by 2037.
