Exchange rates in Guyana: Finance Minister to meet Bankers’ Association today

Foreign Exchange woes continue in Guyana as the Central Bank schedules a meeting with the Bankers Association to discuss the availability of foreign exchange. This comes on the heels of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) tagging the USD rate an all-time high of  GYD$230:USD$1.

The Central Bank tried to calm fears by stating that the weighted average rate of exchange was GYD$218: USD$1, however this appears to have been largely ignored as major institutions continue to charge rates closer to $230.
