Wayne Shah - Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo Bank
Wayne Shah is a multifaceted Financial Services professional. He has held significant leadership roles at global organizations – including Wells Fargo Bank, Wachovia Bank, Bladex, ABN AMRO Bank, and Citicorp/Citibank. Currently at Wells Fargo Bank N.A., he heads the International Banking business for the Caribbean Region. Joining the organization in 2007 under Wachovia Bank as the head of Global Payments Services (GPS) for the Americas. He is considered an industry subject matter expert (SME) for international transaction banking – payments, trade, BSA AML and risk management. He was called upon to provide expert testimony to the US House Financial Services Committee (HSFC) regarding de-risking, international payments and correspondent banking. He is a leading voice for banking issues and the impact of financial regulation. He founded the International Correspondent Banking Round Table at the Financial and International Business Association (FIBA) most recently focusing on Financial Inclusion, Caribbean de-risking issues and creative solutions. In 2006, Mr. Shah was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Clavex LLC – a wholly owned Fintech subsidiary of BLADEX – the Latin American Export Bank. In 2002, Mr. Shah co-founded a Miami-based Fintech – M-Frontier Inc. focused on providing customized technology, training, and financial product solutions. In 1998, Mr. Shah joined ABN AMRO as the head of Capability Management and Transaction Banking Operations for Latin America and Caribbean. In 2000, he led ABN-AMRO’s E Commerce / B2B business strategy with a focus on Procurement, Settlement and Working Capital. Before departing ABN AMRO, he functioned as the senior Global Transaction Banking consultant to the energy sector (oil & gas) for both Asia and Latin American markets. Mr. Shah honed his skills with 11 years at Citicorp prior to joining ABN AMRO. He began his career in Citi’s retail and International Corporate Bank. He was awarded the Citicorp Service Excellence award and was recognized as manager of the year on multiple occasions. He is a graduate of Florida International University School of Law, with a Juris Masters in Banking law and Compliance. He also holds a BA in Environmental Studies with a focus on sustainable development. He is a Certified AML/TF Professional – CPAML and AMLCA. Certified Trade Based Money Laundering Instructor – IFC, World Bank Executive Training from Foster’s School of Business at the University of Washington. He is a Board Member of the Miami Dade International Trade Commission, serves on the Board of the Financial & International Business Association (FIBA) and chairs and cochairs multiple committees.
